Abstract:
Tax parcel map of areas in Washington County except the City of West Bend. This data was obtained from two major sources. The complete Town of Erin and the Village of Slinger Planning area (14 sections) were compiled using coordinate geometry from source documents through a contract with Fieldtech administered by the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC). The remaining areas were compiled using coordinate geometry from source documents through a contract with Smart Data Solutions (SDS) inc. All areas are maintained by Washington County GIS, A Division of the Planning and Parks Department. In addition to tax parcels, this map includes municipal boundaries, congressional township boundaries, government lots, PLSS sections, PLSS quarter sections, subdivisions, CSM's, condominiums, rights of way, and managed forest. |
Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

The primary purpose of this digital tax parcel mapping is to manage the tax assessment system as it relates to land ownership. These data are also used in a variety of other county applications requiring land ownership information.

All attributes maintained in the graphic databases were checked by Washington County GIS, a Division of the Planning and Parks Department and are believed to be correct. When possible, data are compared to accepted values or domains. All errors are flagged and manually corrected. Tax roll attributes currently reside on the County's AS/400. This non-graphic database was verified by the Washington County Real Property Lister, a Division of the Register of Deeds and are believed to be correct.
All area features are checked for topological accuracy. Errors are flagged, manually checked and corrected. The parcel identification number is used as the database key when joining the graphic to the non-graphic data. Mapped parcels are cross referenced against the tabular tax roll to ensure the maps and the tax roll are in sync.
Washington County does not map the City of West Bend. For the remaining areas in Washington County, the data is complete for municipalities, congressional townships, PLSS sections, PLSS quarter sections, government lots, subdivisions, CSMs, condominiums, parcels, rights of way, managed forest and conflicts >2.5 ft. City of West Bend maintains information in a similar format that when combined with this dataset completes the county.
Horizontal accuracy is based on the monuments of the US Public Land Survey System, geodetic control stations, and local survey control positions tied into those systems. All non-PLSS features were mapped using a 2.5 ft tolerance. Accuracy of managed forest is dependent on the presence of identifiable features on 1' pixel orthophotography.
Complete cadastre maps for the Town of Erin and the Village of Slinger planning area (T10R18 Sections 1, 12, 13, & 24 and T10R19 sections 6-8, 16-21, & 28) mapped to SEWRPC standards. Information was mapped using coordinate geometry from deeds, subdivision plats, CSMs, and filed plats.
Complete Cadastre maps for Washington County except the City of West Bend, Town of Erin, and Village of Slinger planning area mapped to Washington County Standards. Information was mapped using coordinate geometry from deeds, subdivision plats, CSMs, and filed plats.
All data delivered by SEWRPC and SDS Inc. were converted and combined to conform to Washington County Standards by the Washington County GIS, a division of The Planning and Parks Department.
Washington County Geographic Information Systems performed all updates using coordinate geometry from deeds, subdivision plats, CSMs, condominiums, filed plats and the tax database. Orthophotragrahy is used to help capture areas in the managed forest program. All data are maintained using Bentley Microstation and Intergraph MGE.
Made major revisions to the parcel data model and migrated all data to that model. Migrate all data and functions to ESRI software and formats. Created topological relationships between features, validated and cleaned errors. Model was developed jointly with the City of West Bend.

Entity information in this map includes municipalities, congressional townships, PLSS sections, PLSS quarter sections, government lots, recorded plats (subdivision and CSMs), condominiums, subdivision blocks, lots of subdivisions and CSMs, parcels, rights of way, conflicts and managed forest.
