Description:
Abstract:
This data set is a polygon region shapefile representing Wisconsin DNR Bear Management Zones as region features. Bear Management Zones indicate the areas with various bear hunting regulations throughout Wisconsin. Hunting regulations may vary between and within zones. Users should consult the most rcent Hunting Regulations Handbook to determine which regulations apply to which zones, or portions of zones. The current version of Bear Management Zone boundaries reflects updates made through October, 2008.
Purpose:
Bear Management Zones allow the DNR to better control the distribution of hunters and shift hunting pressure to areas of high nuisance and/or damage complaints. This data set includes the most detailed data regarding where dogs are allowed for purposes of bear hunting. This data set is intended for use with ArcView, ArcInfo, or other GIS software which support shapefile format.
