Notes:

Road names and classification based on WisDOT local roads inventory for transportation aids.  Certified plats are filed by municipalities (chairman/clerk signature) each year in accordance with sec. 86.30 Wis. stat.

By State Statute town boards should have an ordinance naming their roads.  The town ordinance would be the legal record of the road name.  The record may be difficult to locate after the passing decades, but the Towns would still be the authoritative source for the legal road name.

State Statute 60.23(17) The town board may name, or change the name of, any street in the town under 82.03 (7).

State Statute 82.03(07) The town board shall, by ordinance, assign a name to each of the roads that are under the town's jurisdiction. No road name may be used on more than one road within the jurisdiction of the town.
